How many weeks were you when you did the glucose test?

At my appt yesterday they mentioned that I'd be doing the 1 hour glucose test at my next appt (~24 weeks).  For some reason I thought it was usually done closer to 27 weeks...but whatever.  I know I have some risks for it, so I'd rather them be on top of it than let it go too long.  I'm just curious how far you were/will be when they do the test.

Also, for those that have done it, what all is involved with it?  I know I drink a container of orange goo and then they wait an hour, but after that is it a blood draw that they do?  How quick to results get back to you?

I'm not doing it until the end of this month. They gave me a date range of between 26 - 28 weeks that I go. I think it is weird hat I just go to a lab for it. At least yours is happening at your appointment!

They said when I check in for the appt that the receptionist will give me paperwork for the glucose stuff.  Then I'm supposed to go straight to the lab (its like 50 ft away, same floor of building) to get the goo.  I chug the stuff before they see me for the appt and then about the time the appt is done apparently they get their sample.  Timing sounds about right.  I do like that I don't even have to get on the elevator to do it!

That is a nice system they have worked out! I wish my doctor's office was being that efficient.

Same here - I just got a lab order and need to go in whenever I can between 26-28 weeks.  I'm going in this Friday, & I'll be just a day shy of 27 weeks.  I have no idea if I'll get the results that day or if I'll get them at my next appointment (which will be the following Friday).  I'm not looking forward to the orange goo & the test, but the hour that I have to spend waiting in the lab waiting area will be a nice opportunity to do some reading!

For the 1hr you drink the drink in less than 5min then blood draw 1hr after.  Results take about 24-48hrs.

I can only imagine how much fun chugging goo will be.

This.  They actually gave me my goo (fruit punch, I feel special) MONTHS ahead of time & I was told to drink it an hour before my 24w appointment.  They did the blood draw before my appointment & I called for the results about a week later when I hadn't heard anything.  I think 24w is on the earlier end, but still in the normal range.  

They also tested my blood count with the same sample & found out I was a little anemic & needed to start iron supplements.  Not sure if they'll do this with you, but just thought I'd give you the heads up.    GL!

I think if I'd stuck with going to Balboa (I've officially made the switch back  to my civilian PCP) mine would've been at 27 weeks.  At least that's what all the ladies drinking the goo at the lab there were for weeks whenever they'd need to sample me for something.  I bet you're going sooner because of it being twins.

My OB just gave it to me today and said to do it before my next appt at 30w. I'll do it next week at 27w2d.

I did it at 26 weeks. They told me to go between 26 and 29 weeks. good luck It's not as bad as I thought. Try to make sure they give it to you cold.

I'm going in one week. I think they're probably just setting it up earlier for you because you'll be going into the office anyway. That's how they scheduled mine, when we picked out my next appt. :-)

I'll be going this weekend at 26w. My dr told me there was no rush though and could go anytime before my next appt on June 17.

My OB mentioned this at my last appointment when we were discussing upcoming appointments and he said that he likes to do that test between 24 and 26 weeks.

I did one at 16 weeks and again at 27 weeks.

I had mine at 28 weeks. Went and drank the yucky orange stuff, sat there for an hour, then they drew blood. I didn't get any results, they just said they would only call if I failed. Thankfully I didn't.

I think that has to be it.  I betcha its the procedure for twin pregnancies.  Heaven knows they aren't ones to bend much on their windows for doing things otherwise (I'm thinking specifically of my wanting an u/s before 10 weeks and them shooting me down). 

Sounds like we'll be chugging the goo at about the same time.  My appt is June 28th, when is yours? 

Random thought seeing as you're AD: How are those maternity uniforms treating you?  I saw them when we were getting my DH some new dress whites and thought of you.

Mine will be at my next appointment @ 25wks. I got the drink at my appointment yesterday (fruit punch flavor) and was told to not eat or drink anything for three hours before my appt (9am).

I need to chug the drink at 8am in 5 minutes, and get to my appt in time for them to do the blood test at 9am.

My OB had originally said at 28 weeks but since my appointments are on odd numbered weeks - he just told me to do it at 29.
