So I was holding V today. The nurse had the IV pole in front of her monitor so when she started alarming I couldn't see what she was doing......or not doing as the case was. She was not breathing and wasn't starting bck up on her own or with stimulation. The nurse snatched up and called for help stat. My heart dropped but I tried to keep my cool (which I failed at apparently but DH could see In my face I was freaking the F out!). FINALLY she started breathing....scary sh*t.
The nurse thinks she got so comfortable while I holding her and hearing my heart beat that she thought she was back In the womb where she didn't need to breathe.
When we left she was all comfy in her isolate sleeping away. Little stinker.
It is scary! Gabe had 3 major bradys last night while H was holding him for his feed (1hr) and the 3rd one came out of, but not without a lot of stimulation. It was the first time I'd really seen H freak.

Ugh! I'm sorry that happened too you both. My husband was freaking out too (he was holding A when V was having her event)...after she was alright he stood by her isolate and kept looking In on her.
The second time I had ever held Audrey, she had some secretions in her lungs come loose and clog her tube. Her sats dropped drastically, they snatched her from me, couldn't bag her back up and she had to be reintubated.
Scareiest. thing. EVER. I'm sorry you had to go through it!

Unfortunately... it happens to most of us. The first time it happened I couldn't hold him for whole day without a nurse with me the whole time because I was so freaked out. Sorry you had to witness it... but I am glad everything is ok.
I remember the first time that happened to me with DS! I freaked out and started crying and the nurses had to comfort me! It's scary but know your LO is in good hands. DS ended up coming home on a monitor and got off at 3 months actual. He's now 4 months actual and doing great!
