A little Sad/Confused.

So i got my fert report out of 18 egg's we have 6 embryo's that made it.My nurse said that is a great number but im a little sad it seems pretty low to me.

What is a good amount of Embryo's someone should have for their transfer?

Re: A little Sad/Confused.

  • Well how many did you talk about transferring? I'm assuming 1 or 2 right, so hopefully at least two will make it to freeze and that would be perfect! Good luck

  • I retrieved 10 ... 8 were mature and all 8 fertilized.  When we went to transfer only 2 made it.  Obviously, I'm not pregnant but lots of women get pregnant with only 1 or 2.

Did only 6 fertilize?  If so the others just weren't mature.  Sometimes protocol changes that.

  • Thats exactly what I had -- 18 retrieved and only 6 fertilized.. but then only 3 grade A's.. two 7 cells and one 8 cell. I put in one 7 and the 8 then only my other grade A 7 made it to freeze. I felt discouraged about that number at first also. BUT then I thought about and i have one more frostie in the bank then I had before! <3 GL hun!! <3<3

  • My friend only had one embryo out of about 12 eggs. Her son is now almost one year old. I think that is a good number. GL! Sending positive vibes your way.

I agree with this!  Remember that is only takes one.  Unless, of course, you want to be the next Octomom.  Then, you'd need at least 4!  LOL!

Many, many women don't have any embryos to freeze after transferring two.  So, if you have two to transfer, any that make it to freeze are a bonus!  Good luck, hon!!
