Hey y'all,
I had a lap/hysteroscopy done on Friday. I took BCP's on my cycle days 4-19 and had the procedures on my cycle day 20; then discontinued use of BCP's.
I have had mild bleeding from Friday until today and the bleeding continues. My question is how will I know the difference between this bleeding and starting my period? How long did your post-procedure bleeding last?
Re: lap question
I hope you don't mind if I respond.
If I remember correctly, my bleeding stopped after about 3 days. It got heavier after I left the hospital and then after a few days, was almost gone. I had my surgery on March 1st and didn't get my period until March 20th, so there was no confusion as far as that was concerned. They told me not to be concerned unless I was bleeding enough to fill a pad within an hour. Hoping for a quick recovery for you!
Since you stopped BCPs at the time of your surgery (I did for mine as well), you are going to be having a "period" from stopping the pills. So to answer your question-- I think you are having your period now. My periods tend to be light and short, so my post surgery one was really no exception.
I took a little longer to ovulate the cycle after my lap, but it was only a few days behind schedule. Good luck on your recovery!
