Trying to Get Pregnant

chart stalk please!!!

Good Morning ladies, my first month temping and charting. My temps have been 97.6-97.9. Today I temped and it was 98.6. Huge spike. My question is (because I didn't get to finish reading all the tutorials on ff) Did I ovulate yesterday? Am I ovulating today? You ovulate before the spike? Or does the spike have to be  up for a few days????

Please Help! lol

I promise I will finish the tutorials!!!

  • Once you see a sustained temperature shift, you have likely already ovulated, but you'll need to see 3 days of higher temps before you'll get your crosshairs.

So... Let's say I have 2 more days of a high temp..that means I would have O'd Thursday??? Now, do the temps need to be as high as it was today? or around the same, or just higher than they have been?

    Thanks for the help!

I believe the rule of thumb is that you O on the last day of the lower temps.

ETA: I would guess Friday looking at your temps but I would keep humping it out just in case.

If you have 2 more temps up around the same range as today's, you could have O'd Thursday. Friday would be my first guess but I'm not enough of an expert to say for sure. As long as they're up around the same range, you will get CH.

If you use the "Fertility Awareness Detector" on FF (as opposed to the default Advanced mode), you'll need to have 3 temps higher than your previous 6.

The tutorials are extremely useful, I'll just reinforce that they will likely answer any questions you might have. Good luck!

If you have two more days of high temps FF will likely indicate you O'd on Friday (not Thursday). Although your temp went up Thursday it was still in line with your other temps.

As far as what is high, I usually use TCOYF rule (FF appears to follow something similar but is a little more lenient). The "rule" is that once you have a temp that goes .2 above the last six temperatures and then have two more temps that are at least .1 higher than your pre-O temps. In your case I think you will get CH's if you get temps the next two days above 98.2.
