My DD's school just had this.  Are you looking for a dish to bring?  I brought a hot artichoke dip and crackers.  Some people brought cupcakes, lumpia, cheese, meat, and crackers, veggies and dip, cut up fruit.

I gave her a $25 gift card to Target.

There is only one assistant teacher for the regular preschool class so I too got her a $25 gift card to Target.

Cheese and crackers, and fruit kids can eat with their fingers (strawberries, grapes, blueberries).  As for a gift, a photobook or photo calendar is nice.  Otherwise gift cards, target, starbucks, borders.
