Ok do I really need a sprayer??

So obviously my DD is still a newborn and I don't need a sprayer yet. But will I need to get one eventually??

  • I say yes.  I tried swishing, and it was a nightmare.  I have the sprayer technique down, and it is quick and painless.

  • I've CD'd for 14 months without one.
  • I cloth diapered two kids until potty training, and I never had one. I am sure it's nice to have, and I am thinking about getting one for this kiddo!
  • My sprayer has made my life way easier. I'm sure you could CD without one.. but it's so nice to be able to spray the solids off (helps keep stains away too) and then toss it in the pail instead of dealing with liners, dunking/swishing/spatula etc. My LO has been on solids for two months and we're still in the peanut butter phase, so it's been awesome.

  • I use mine with my EBF newborn's poopy diapers. I know it's water-soluble and mostly liquidy, but I feel better spraying off what I can. The bricks-and-mortar and online store that I follow on facebook always gets mixed reviews on sprayers when they ask their fans-- seems to be either people have them and luuuuurve them or have never had one and don't feel a need for one.

  • So how are those without cleaning them? Do you swish them in the toilet or just throw them in the wash as is?

The PB poo stage only lasted a few weeks. Most of the time the poo is ploppable. If it isn't, I dunk and swish. Or sometimes I leave it in the toilet for a while and let stuff wash off. Others fold up the diaper for a few hours and let some of the liquid get soaked up so it's easier to plop the poo.

  • I don't have one. I tried swishing and it didn't work. I tried leaving in the toilet and that was a mess.  And sometimes she comes home from day car with two poopies and THEN what?  Fill both toilets? And sometimes tehy jsut STINK so do I want that sitting in my toilet making my whole bathroom stink?  I now take them outside and spray them off with the water hose and it works GREAT. I get great pressure tow ash everything off, I don't have to worry about it splashing in my bathroom like  a toilet sprayer, etc. I have a small bathroom sized garbage can taht I leave by teh water hose and after spraying off the diaper I toss the diaper in tehre to wait until the next washing and it goes in with the others (you could also jsut put it in your wet bag at that point but I don't want to put a dripping diaper in there andt his works fine.

You would of course want a designated poo spraying space in your yard so you're not spraying poo all over and/or where people willbe walking/playing. I compost so I do it near that area which I have secioned off (not into the compost as you are not supposed to put human waste in there).

History of IF and 2.5 years TTC. The day we were to start our first IUI we received a call that changed our lives forever and 10 month old Olivia joined our family. Shortly thereafter we got a surprise BFP and baby 2 is due July 5, 2012

  • For me personally, a sprayer was a must once Charlotte started solids. Dunking and swishing is gross.

I've CD'd for over 2.5 years (which included only 6 months of EBF) without one. I use a spatula. That seems easier to me than spraying, and potentially getting poopy water all over the bathroom.

Mommy to DD1 (June 2007), DS (January 2010), DD2 (July 2012), and The Next One (EDD 3/31/2015)

  • My toddler's poop still is not usually plopable (he's a fruit junky) - we have only been CDing him for 4 months but I honestly could not imagine doing it without our sprayer. Love it!

  • We have a sprayer and I'm so glad we do!  DS has had peanut butter poo for months now!
  • We just started solids. (But we're doing BLW so he hasn't really digested much.)

Still debating what to do! I am leaning toward a sprayer. I feel like I should Google some videos to see how best to use one, but I'm sort of scared!

  • I've CD for 3 years (DD day trained at 2.5 but still has overnight trainers) and have never used a sprayer.  I used liners after she started solids.  If I didn't have a liner for some reason and she had a BM I'd just shake it into the toilet or at the worst use TP to scrape it off (very very rarely had to do this).

I can't imagine spraying poo diapers, just sounds SO yucky.  No plans to buy one with this next baby either.
