Cloth Diapering

Summer in cloth?

I just wonder if any of you experts have seen a difference in your LO in cloth over the summer? It got really hot here quickly and we ended up with a rash for the first time since we started CDing.  I wondered if the heat made him sweat more and that amplified the rash? We've been using FuzziBunz with the microfiber and a hemp liner, I wondered if we should skip the hemp for the summer, that's a lot of layers around his little rear, maybe it doesn't breathe? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Its ridiculously hot here. It hit 100 already.  During the day at home I have DD in a prefold with a wool soaker and just a t shirt. The prefolds seem thin and the wool is breathable.  I still use my normal stuff for out and about and haven't noticed a difference.

  • I would think it doesn't matter what type of insert you use, since the PUL is not breathable. While it's not that warm here yet, we like fitteds with wool covers and just a t-shirt on warm days.

  • I haven't had this problem, but it does stand to reason.  I don't think removing the hemp is going to help that much.  You could try fitted and wool - that will breathe better.
