7 Months - Food

When can you go to stage 2 foods with DC?  Ours have been through all the stage 1's with no reactions, except disliking a few things.  When is it okay to move up?  I didn't know and the ped said at 9 months we could start smaller finger-type foods.

Re: 7 Months - Food

  • We moved up almost right away (and I'll admit to not doing the introduce new foods every 4 days, blah, blah, blah . . . that is my Wednesday confession!).  The Stage 2 are basically the same thing . . .just a little thicker in some cases and the combinations aren't as bland as the Stage 1.  The purees our nanny makes were much thicker than the stage 1 foods, so once we knew B & K could handle those we moved right on to Stage 2.  And they haven't had any reactions, either.

    Have fun!

  • honestly, i don't see much of a difference between them, except the container is bigger and the price is the same. so i'd definitely buy stage 2s, it'll save you some $$!

  • I make most of their foods, but I started transitioning to thicker and chunkier stuff when they got really good at eating solids and could eat chunky stuff without gagging on it.
  • We started stage 2 about a month after the stage ones.  Still not brave enough for the toast or the puffs.  I made my DH hold a puff in his mouth and it took a little longer to dissolve than I thought it would.
  • My pedi said that as long as they have tried the ingredients in the stage 2 foods and haven't had allergic reactions to them, then it's fine to move up.
