Hello! I am new to the bump but used to use the knot! I am so concerned today and hoping someone can help. My husband and I tried for a year to get pregnant but I wasn't ovulating so I was put on Clomid. It worked the first dose and we are so excited. I have had morning sickness (well all day sickness), sore breasts, the works. Last night when I went to the restroom and wiped I noticed some brown discharged and immediately freaked out. I called my dr who told me to come in this morning for a Ultra sound just to see if they can see a heart beat. I went in and there was no heart beat and they couldn't see the fetus but could see two sacs and two yolk sacs. They told me it was still very early and everything may still be ok but wouldn't really offer any reassurance. They told me to come back next Wed for another u/s. Now I am terrified. Is the discharge normal? I've had mild cramps the whole pregnancy but they assured me that was pretty normal. Also I know they calculate your progress by the first day of your last period which was April 9th but I know that we conceived on April 29th so would I actually be 5 weeks or 6 weeks? Just hoping someone can help as this is my first pregnancy and I am so worried! Thanks in advance to all who answer. |
Re: 5 weeks pregnant with twins.... please help!
Congrats.
You are still very early, so I wouldn't freak out about heartbeats just yet.
I had some spotting close to week five. It could just be implantation.
You're still very early, heartbeats don't begin until you're between 5.5-6w along. They were just barely able to see them for my girls at 5w6d. I spotted brown throughout my first trimester, and had 2 sticky babies. Take a deep breath, and enjoy being pregnant- sounds like typical early pregnancy things, many of which aren't a sign of anything being wrong.
Congrats!
I work at an Imaging Center, so we did weekly US scans after finding out I was pregnant to make sure it was going to be a normal, viable pregnancy. We had a scan at 6w5d that showed a smaller gestational sac than the week before and still no fetal pole so we anticipated a MC. Four days later (7w2d), we saw two normal sacs and two strong heartbeats! We were definitely shocked but now can't wait to meet our boys!
Don't worry if you can't see a heartbeat(s) yet! Just try to relax and get some rest before you're too big to sleep comfortably... It isn't too far off!! Congrats!
After 2 years, Injects, PCOS diagnosis and 2 IUI's, we were blessed with our beautiful twin girls!

spotting is very common in early pregnancy- esp with twins..... and EVERY day matters a lot that early - things change fast in those first few weeks.
My first US at 5w showed 2 sacs but nothing else... no fetal poles, no yolk sacks, etc... 3 days later there were heartbeats - so it all changes fast --- it sucks waiting, but that's all you can do. The heart starts beating in the 6th week - and again, every day makes a difference.
congrats on your pregnancy - just keep sending love and prayers to your belly while you wait. TODAY you are pregnant with twins - keep a focus on that!!
