We're just starting to buy our CDs to start using next March, but I'm worried about our area's hard water. I'm wondering if it will cause repelling issues or anything. Any ideas or tips?
I found that it did. We even have a softener, but I needed an extra boost, so I also use Calgon. You have to play with it a bit to see how much you'll need (if you need any at all). Just make sure you rinse a lot. You may also find that you only need it every few washes.
We have hard water, we use nothing extra, doing fine. ?I did up the amount of detergent I was using though to compensate. ?I have also read that liquid detergents are better than powered for hard water. ?Don't know how true it is. ?But I do use Planet liquid for my CDs.
I have very hard water and have a ton of issues because of it. I've never had repelling but I've dealt with the nasty ammonia stink a lot. I use Calgon (you can find it in the detergent aisle, it comes in powdered and liquid) and have to use it every load or it's instant ammonia. It all depends on what diapers you use too - prefolds and fitteds are less likely (I've never had a problem) to have issues than pockets and all in ones made from synthetic fibers which are seriously problematic.
