PAL brain....please help

Even before my BFP I was having what felt like ovulation pains.  Today when I woke up from my nap before work I had a sharp pain on the right side after coughing.  Then a few minutes later I got it on the left side.  So instantly I'm near tears and running to google.  From what I found it could be ectopic (not big enough and on both sides) ligament pain or a cyst.  Anyone else have this happen and find out what it is?  Or am I just looking for trouble where there is none.  Any input would be appreciated!

  • I am the same way.  It sometimes feels like I am looking for a reason to start freaking out.

Since I'm better at giving advice than receiving it, I would talk to your doctor.  Pain can be a indication of anything really, it could even be as minor as gas!

GL to you and I sincerely hope it's nothing serious!

The fact that the pain is on both sides makes it unlikely that it is anything too serious. It would be highly unlikely that you'd have bilateral eptopic pregnancies. I had a cyst with DS that hurt pretty bad from the BFP up to about 18 weeks. It was only on one side though. My best guess would be gas. Pg gas hurts! Your digestion slows down so it will be worse than any other gas pains you've ever experienced. It was rough from time to time with DS. If it persists and you are really worried, call your Dr's nurse to get some answers.

  • I had this the first few weeks too. My Dr told me its the corpus letuem cyst, which is actually needed to produce progesterone until the placenta is fully formed (at which point the placenta takes over progesterone production). It is completely normal unless you are in severe pain. Usually it's an indication of what side you ovulated on. For me it was mostly on the right side but it sometimes shifted to the left. The pains got less frequent for me starting around week 6. I still get them, though.

  • I had many of these little pains mostly in my right side but sometimes both sides and I started to right away thing "ectopic" too!  I even went through the same experience with coughing.  However I had an early ultrasound at 5w 2d due to some spotting issues and my u/s confirmed there was a gestational sac in my ute!  So hand in there!  Many experience these sharp pains and it can be a good thing!!

1st tip = DON'T GOOGLE!  You'll freak yourself out even more!  Trust me!  I was where you are right now and even though I'm not that much farther ahead in the last 3 weeks I have totally shut myself off from googling and I'm so much better off!

2nd = I'm not 100% sure on this and I could be totally wrong here but I think if you are under 4 weeks I don't think you'd even be feeling "signs" so to speak of an ectopic pregnancy yet!  I think you'd have to be at least 6 + weeks but I could be wrong on that.

I know this is next to impossible but try to relax and NOT google and maybe call your doctor voice your concern maybe they will get you in for an early u/s so you can confirm what's going on and help ease your mind too!
