Lovenox Sucks

Wow you ladies were right when you said it was bad.

I thought - oh I can handle PIO - I can handle this tiny needle.

Well it burns and it burns alot and for a long time - like 5 minutes after the shot was already done.

That was only my first one - not looking forward to all the burises and sore spots - I took my first injection last night and as of right now I have no bruise.

But I am willing to do anything if it means a sticky baby or babies.

Re: Lovenox Sucks

  • it does suck.

ice before, it helps with the burning and inject super slow, the slower the less it burns.

  • a lot of people say to ice the area first, and be sure to inject real slow that usualy helps with the burning.

I was always told to take Lovenox in the AM.

This. I inject it super, super slow. As long as I inject slow, it doesn't hurt at all. Sometimes, it will hurt a little after, but not too bad. If I inject it too quickly, then it burns.

  • It will get better and easier with time.  I've been doing it for months now and the bruising isn't nearly as bad.  Plus, it isn't really hurting anymore!  We aren't doing anything different either.  good luck!!!  and congrats!!!!!
  • Oh my! I'm so sorry! I hope it gets better, quickly.

( this doesn't sound good at all. I'm getting ready to start lovenox for the very first time and I hadn't heard how bad it is... bummer)

  • When I was in the hospital, all of the nurses did my Lovenox shots super fast. Now I have my DH do the shots fast (it still hurts, but I get it over with so much quicker). The main problem I have is finding an area that doesn't have welts (I inject 2x per day). GL!!!

I've been on it 11 months total, not including when I was in the hospital. I may be the odd person out, but when I ice it, I bruise more. I think it has to do with the cold. I find that I have to do it sitting up or laying down and I pinch the fat really, really hard. I wait until the alcohol is totally dry or else it burns more. I inject very slowly. Sometimes I bruise badly, and sometimes it just leaves a little black mark. I am on aspirin also. You will find spots that are less painful than others. I find the spots that hurt the least are directly to the right and left of my belly button. I think doing it on my 'love handles' is so painful. Sometimes it burns more than others. It is so random!!?

    GL!!!!!!!!!!!?
