Once upon a time, there was a giraffe that got lost on its way from the Sahara to a little house in Ohio ...
DH and I made a few extravagant purchases for the girls' animal themed nursery, the most notorious of which is a 3 foot (or taller, can't remember) stuffed giraffe.
I ordered it while the girls were still in the NICU (okay, so sad-and-stressed-out mommy wanted a big giraffe for the girls to come home to ... DH was behind the ordering of the giant tiger ... ).
The giraffe was listed as delivered prior to the girls' homecoming. I bought it from Amazon but they got it through an outside vendor and it was independently shipped. It never arrived. I filed my claim with Amazon, who filed a claim with the outside shipper (Brookstone.com), who filed a claim with UPS. UPS has GPS tracking of package deliveries. The first phone call I received was from Amazon. Amazon said, "We investigated this. The giraffe was delivered to your front desk." Lol. I had it shipped to my house. (And no I don't live in a gated community, etc. with a front desk.) It turns out that the address was for a giant stuffed toy store. The toy store either can't or won't return the lost giraffe.
So, when my claim finally goes through, the money will go from UPS to Brookstone to Amazon and we will start the sale all over. This giraffe will be forever lost and the girls will get a new one. The end.
