outdoor runners with jogging strollers

How old were your LO's when you started running with them. I talked to the pedi about this at the 4 month WBV and he said 7-8 months. But I swear I thought you could take them around 6 months if they had good head/neck strength...

Re: outdoor runners with jogging strollers

  • I run with the BOB revolution duallie, I started running with mine right around 6 months (I think a week or 2 before they were officially)...I run in my neighborhood and greenbelts, the surface is fairly smooth and I have never felt that the boys were jostled or bounced around too much (the BOB is a smooth ride). They have good control, and I also put nuzzlers in with neck and side support and extra cushioning for the boys. I think you are the best judge of where you will be running, what type of stroller you are using, and how comfortable your babies appear in the stroller.

I find running is the only exercise I can do with these guys on a consistent basis.

  • There were a few random nice days in January when they were 6 months that we went.  It wasn't very far/fast since our neighborhoods is bumpy with curbs.  Eight  months was when we started going consistantly.

I was fine with rolling the dice on my own c/s recovery, but I was much more nervous about doing something with the boys before they were ready.

  • We waited until 8 months. Like Haven, we didn't think it worth risking before that. It also helped that they turned 8 months at the end of April, right as the weather was getting really nice. At 6 months, in February, we could have cared less about running outside.
  • 8 months partly because that's what our manual said, but also because it was too cold.  I think they probably could have handled it earlier though.

  • My pedi said that as long as the surfaces were smooth, then we could go at 4 months.  I run on the streets in my neighborhood and I think they are fine.  Honestly, they get less jostled around in the Bob when I am running than they do in the snap n go when I am out and about!

I asked our pedi at our six month appointment and he said to wait until 7.5 months. I didn't want to take any chances.

I never asked my ped about it but I waited until they were about 7 mo before I ran with them.  I took lots of walks with them in the BOB when they were tiny but no runs.
