Baby Showers

"Meet the Baby" party question

How long after LO is born would you consider doing a "Meet the Baby" party?  Is there a particularly appropriate timeframe?

We are going to swap out our very late couples' shower (supposed to happen when I'm 37 weeks) hosted by some friends for a meet & greet hosted by us once LO is here.  I'm just wondering about the timing part of it...

Re: "Meet the Baby" party question

  • I would guess these are hard to plan too far ahead of time, because how do you really know when your LO will arrive? Even if you are having a planned CS, baby can come early- my friend was scheduled last year for her CS on April 24th and went into labor on her own on April 17th.

I would guess that maybe 2-3 weeks after your are due would be ok??? But I don't know for sure.

  • A Meet the Baby Shower is being planned for us 5 weeks after LO is due.  I don't want LO around a bunch of people until he/she is 3-4 weeks old.  It's being planned for 5 weeks past my EDD in case I go late.....

  • My baby shower was 3 weeks after I had my daughter and it was perfect.  I would wait to schedule it until after baby is born.

  • Ours was when LO was 1 month old.  I have hosted others for friends and they ranged from 3-5 weeks.

Ours will be when our son is about 5 weeks old.  I had intended it to be when he was a little older, but he was over a week late!
