Unless you are living in Germany, your child will spend her life correcting people's pronunciation of the name.

It reminds me of Eurotrip where the main character thinks his German penpal is a guy b/c her name is Mike (pronounced like Micah). I think it's a great name, but she will always have to spell it/correct the pronunciation. If that's not a big deal to you, go for it!
I know someone with this name, but it's pronounced My-yah. She's German from Germany, so I'll take her word on the correct pronunciation.
Interesting to hear! My sil has a forgein exchange student with this name and she most certainly says Micah. She had been here for 8 months so I'm sure shed correct us by now.

It can also be spelled Meike which is the more phonetic spelling (for Germans). (And in German the "k" is usually pronounced, so the woman who went by a different pronunciation may have been going by a nickname?). I think it's pretty but could be quite confusing for Americans. Not only does it resemble the male name Micah in pronunciation but the spelling is tough.

agreed, you could have given me ten guesses as to the correct pronunciation and I do not think I would have gotten it. I do like Micah... for a boy.

Pretty looking name, though.
