Cold strategies...

DD has her first cold. She's miserable - congested and a cough. She's running clear mucous like a faucet. We have her sleeping upright in her swing so she can breathe, and I'm sucking out her nose as much as possible. We did a warm bath before bed to loosen everything, and we have the humidifier going. No fever.

Any tips on helping her feel better? How long does a cold take to run its course in a baby?

  • Having a sick little one is the worst!! I'm so sorry! It sounds like you are doing everything I can think of...maybe saline solution? I can't remember how old the baby has to be to use that though so definitely check that first! If my kids are not getting any better 2-3 days after it started I normally at least call the Pedi. Hope the little one feels better soon!

  • Sounds like you are doing everything right!! I am sure she will be feeling better in no time. I also second the saline solution. Otherwise, there isn't anything else I can think of to help.

  • Ugh that stinks, it'll get better within a few days. saline drops are good.
what are you sucking with? if just a bulb suction I would look into getting something else. We love our nosefrida & I know some other ppl have battery operated ones they love too. All about getting lots of stuff out of there so they can breathe (and in our case to try to prevent ear infections).
