Ugh, what do I do with my little girl's hair?! It seems to tame it, that I should grow it out longer. I want it to have more style, though. Is anyone in the same boat with their LO? ETA: Any recommendations from hair stylists out there?

Re: Preschooler haircut with cowlicks and curls?
A little longer than shoulder length. I don't usually use product on it.

My DD has crazy cowlicks (but it's straight). The longer her hair gets, the better it weighs down her cowlicks. Also, no bangs! I wet down DD's hair with water every time I do her hair. Even still, I can't do a regular ponytail because the cowlicks jump up.
She doesn't have a fancy haircut - though I did ask for straight and it appears that the front is shorter. No product, either. Her hair is usually in some kind of braid or at least a clip every day to keep it out of her face.
GL!
It sounds similar to my DD's hair. I just got it cut for only the second time last week, and the hairdresser recommended some light layers to give the waves more bounce. Having it all one long length (it was almost down to the middle of her back) was weighing it down and leaving it half straight, half wavy most of the time, which meant it never really looked neat. Now it looks good even after brushing out her bedhead.
As for the cowlicks, I almost always have DD's hair parted and pulled to the side in a half-pony or braid (as in my sig pic). Her worst cowlick is at the crown of her head, and her hair naturally falls into a side part, so this works best at keeping her hair out of her face without it looking wonky.
