I saw you mentioned that you froze baby food in ice cube trays. Does that work just as good as the stuff they sell at BRU? I couldn't believe how much they are charging for what essentially seems like ice cube trays (to me at least). But as a newbie to all of this, I wondered if maybe a lid was especially important. Or I know that the stuff made for baby food tells you that each tray holds one ounce, whereas I'm not sure how much an ice cube tray typically holds . . .

we just used $1 tray from walmart.  lol.  i put the food in, covered in cling wrap and then foil.  once frozen, i popped them out and put them in labeled zip lock freezer bags, which I reused.  I had 3 trays and that was more than enough.  Each Sunday, I would make 3 different veggies, and each tray held 12.  The stuff that didn't fit I just put directly in the fridge for immediate use.  We ended up with so much food that way I ended up having to use them in smoothies after he stopped purees.

So yeah, you don't need the expensive stuff.
