Completely new topic... but I'm wondering what the best approach is for dropping kids off at daycare. DH and I usually do drop off together, so it's usually not an issue. Occasionally though I am by myself. Kids are currently still in infant seats, so the question is obviously more for once they transition to convertible seats.
We use a home daycare, nice neighborhood. We park in the driveway, which is probably no more than 6-7 steps to the front door. House is a split level, so directly upon walking in we would climb 6 or so steps.
When they get to the point of being too heavy to carry together (plus diaper bag, bottle bag, opening door, and climbing steps), what is the proper approach? Using a stroller would be pretty pointless since it's such a short distance and then steps.
Suggestions?
Re: S/O leaving kid(s) in car
We have a very similar set up, small daycare, park in driveway, private neighborhood, etc. Plus I live in Michigan so weather was a question for me as well, in addition to getting my toddler out of the car and the twins.
Here is something my daycare came up with when we were talking about it. At first, I was thinking stroller. That could be a solution because my toddler can walk into daycare but when it's snowing she doesn't like to walk in the snow (can't blame her). So, our daycare is going to park a radio flyer right outside their door for us to use. I will jump out of the car - car turned off - grab the radio flyer (3 feet away), put the babies in their seats that and hopefully walk with my toddler. This is for when they are babies and still too little to sit up on their own. I do drop off and DH does pick up so we have to leave the infant seats behind.
In my head, this works out perfect. Just like in my head, my children sleep through the night at 6 weeks I'm totally unrealistic but I have to hope for something, right?!
Now that I've typed this out, I want to change my idea already. It sounds way too complicated.
Perfect, there you go OP
