How much money do you think you save by using cloth diapers? (This is how I will convince DH)

What are the best cloth diapers? (DS is already 15 lbs. if that matters)

What other expenses are there with cloth diapering? (cleaners, inserts...)

How often do you wash them ?

I"m definitely not the resident expert, but I'll try to help where I can.

1.  When DH and I decided to switch, we estimated that we'd see our cost savings after 5 months of full time CDing.  We estimated that we were spending $80/month on sposies, and it would take about $400 to start up with CDs.

2.  Everyone likes different CDs for different reasons, so you'll either get a bunch of different answers, or everyone will say you have to try them for yourself.  We started by using the trial program at www.jilliansdrawers.com.  They send you different kinds to try, and you can go from there in determining what is best for you  (FWIW, we use BG 3.0 exclusively).

3.  Other expenses: laundry detergent (check out www.pinstripesandpolkadots.com for a good list; many Nesties use Crunchy Clean), different inserts if you want to try something else (my BGs came with inserts), a diaper pail & liner (we use a trash can w/ lid and a pillowcase), cloth wipes if you want to use those as well (we admittedly still use disposable wipes).

 4./5.  How many you have depends on 1) how often you need to change your child, and 2) how often you want to do laundry.  We have 24 diapers and I do diaper wash every 2 days.
