I woke up to pee, and it turned into pretty bad diarrhea with VERY bad stomach cramps. I know they weren't contractions because my belly was totally soft, not tight - but the pain was so strong I thought they were at first. I did my thing and now I feel a lot better (no more cramps) and baby is kicking (a lot) but I'm wondering if I should call my OB in the morning? Should I just wait and see if it happens again? I've been taking Colace (just one 50mg dose a day) to help with the constipation from the iron supplement and things have been going pretty well in the poop department (not too hard, not too soft).
This kind of thing used to happen to me pre-pg (sometimes I wondered if I had IBS or something), after eating certain things (mostly high fat things) ... so I'm wondering if it's even worth it to call. I'm just paranoid about salmonella or listeria or something ... I had some leftover quiche on Monday night, that had been out for a while before we put it in the fridge, but when I heated it I made sure it was VERY hot and steaming throughout. I dunno.
Re: Would you call? (TMI and long)
Do you have any other symptoms like fever or vomiting? If not, it's probably nothing serious at all.
If you can keep food and water down and no other symptoms, I wouldn't bother calling. They really only care if you are able to stay hydrated.
I've had a couple of episodes where my body just cleaned itself out like that.
