I kind of wish they had how many weeks they were when they were born. When I saw Stevie Wonders name I wondered If that was why he's blind.
I agree with you.
ITA, I tried Googling, but it wasn't very helpful. It did say Stevie Wonder was born at 36 weeks and was given "an excess of oxygen", which resulted in ROP, but I have no experience with ROP, so I have no clue if that makes sense or not. I saw something that said Einstein was 3 weeks premature, but that's 37 weeks, which is term, right? So basically, Google wasn't helpful lol

My son didn't have ROP, but he was tested for it several times. Excessive oxygen definitely causes ROP (retinopathy of prematurity). Back in the day, they used to give way too much oxygen to babies that were born premature, which caused a lot of unnecessary ROP. Now, they give less oxygen, and, even if babies get ROP, they're better able to treat it.
I didn't know Stevie Wonder was born so late, though. It's almost surprising that he was given oxygen at 36 weeks. I wonder if he had other complications...
I bet no one really knew the gestational age for a lot of the people on the list. I can't imagine they knew how many weeks and days along Einstein was, for example. Wasn't he born like 100 years ago? It's not like they had dating ultrasounds then. ;-)

I did not know that about the ROP, but I thought it was surprising that he'd be given oxygen at 36 weeks, too...I'm sure there's some backstory there, I wish it was on Wikipedia! lol
And yes, that's a very solid point about the dating ultrasounds, I was thinking that info just wouldn't have been recorded, but you're totally right. Without ultrasounds, etc, how would they have known dates??
Re: Famous Preemies!
Stevie Wonder is actually blind because he had ROP. Yet another thing I didn't know until I had a baby in the NICU...
Thanks for sharing!
I agree with you.

I asked my DH if he was the OP under an alias because he Googled famous preemies last night and got SO EXCITED when he found that website.
