A friend texted me this AM to let me know that there was an adoption related story on the CBC today (Canadian radio), so I tuned in. I was so sad to have done it, because I ended up listening to a really sad story about a family who adopted 2 biological brothers (at different times) who were FASD. Years later they couldn't cope with the boys and contacted CAS.
They placed both boys in separate foster homes. The boys were too physically aggressive to the parents, and each other. It sounds like one boy has moved back to their house, the other visits them, and stays out of town at a group home.
The parents were so sad, the boys were sad. It was such a terrible story.
UPDATE:
here is the link to the story if anyone is interested https://www.cbc.ca/inthefield

essentially, the boys' needs were way beyond what the APs were prepared for, and the family was/is breaking down as a result, after several years. It's still scaring the crap out of me, because all of the profiles we've seen so far were FASD or risk of FASD. It complicates things so much more and I'm scared of being in this situation myself.
