Re: super crampy with back pain

  • I'd call your OB to ask.

  • It should be, call your ob, could be labor pains. The real contractions are felt in the back.

Yep, it started a bit over a week ago for me. I ended up calling the on-call doctor last week because I had cramps and lower back pain along with 5 BHs in an hour. I was told to wait it out and if I had another 5 BHs, then to go to L&D. I didn't have any more, so I didn't go in.

The next day I was still super crampy so I called my doctor's office. The nurse told me I should go in and get checked just to make sure everything was fine. So I went in, had my first internal, and learned that this is normal for me and I'll likely experience it until the end (ugh).

If you are concerned or if you can time your cramps/back pain (mine have always been continuous and not timeable), then you should call your doctor. That is what he or she is there for and they never mind the calls.

Good luck and I hope it's nothing!

  • I'd definitely get checked out.  I was in L&D on Saturday for the same issues.  It can be a sign of labor, so it's better to rule it out than to wonder.  I still have really awful back pain and cramps, but there were (as of yet) no signs of preterm labor.  GOOD LUCK!
