Cervical Pain?

To start, the only way that I can describe this pain is if anyone has ever had a LEEP procedure or an IUD put in, the way it feels when they clamp your cervix, that's how it feels.

I would occasionally get this feeling, but since it didn't last very long (like 1 mil sec) and was happening maybe 1 or 2 a month, I have not brought it up to my dr or TB. However, last night while I was laying in bed trying to fall asleep I began to feel the pain, this time it was constant and was lasting for 30 sec - 1 min. It hurt so much that it brought me to tears. Eventually it died down enough that I was able to fall asleep. When I woke up at my usual time to pee, I noticed the feeling was still there, it wasn't constant, it felt more like an "aftershock" you could say. I got up this morning for work and it was the same thing, just the "aftershock" feeling. So far, I only experienced once for a brief second and nothing since then. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it something I should be concerned about or call the dr for? Or am I just worrying about nothing because D-Day is coming closer?

Re: Cervical Pain?

  • I've felt all kinds of strange twinges, including the brief feeling that you describe.

I'm absolutely no expert, but if I had the extended and tear-inducing pain that you mention I would probably give the office a quick call just to check on it.  At the very least, it will keep you from worrying about it.

I have had a lot of vaginal pain this PG. For me, so far, it has not been concerning (although they discovered a very short cervix at 17 weeks and I have been on modified bedrest ever since....), however, it has (luckily) not caused dilation or effacement.

I would definitely bring it up at your appointment because it *can* be a sign of cervical shortening and/or dilation.

    GL!
