Paranormal Activity...

I happen to subscribe to the belief that ghosts, spirits, spooks, whatever you want to call them, exist.  It's something we've always accepted in our family, and traded stories about - and something that has always scared the schmidt out of me!  I don't like the idea that there could be 'somebody' watching me that I cannot see.

I've always tried to pretend it doesn't exist, but there's usually something that happens that seems to prove me wrong.  Quite often, both girls were turn to look at the same vacant spot in the room, or follow something that isn't there, or smile at 'someone' at the same time.  This morning, they both turned to the same empty spot between their highchairs - Nanny said "hi" and Maggie put her arms up like she wanted to be picked up.  I totally have goosebumps right now, and want to leave the house STAT!

Am I the only one who's had these experiences?!

  • EEEEKKK!!!Surprise   That's pretty creepy.  I def. believe in ghosts, spirits, etc.  My mom's cousin, whom we were very close to, died about 4 years ago.  And my mom has these curtains that are hanging by her guest bath tub.  She always leaves them open, never closes them.  When we have family get-togethers at her house they are always somehow closed.  Really weird, because nobody uses that bathroom.  We like to think that it is her cousin!

  • Do you live in an old house?  I love old houses... but I know they have lots of history in them.

  • ProwdMommy - That's sort of neat that it only happens at family gatherings - it's like she's trying to let you all know she's there.  I don't mind stuff like that when there's other people around - but don't like it when I'm alone.

Leigh - our house was built in 1955 - so not that old.

  • My dad passed away 1 1/2 yr before Jack was born. I have a picture of him hanging up. One day when he was maybe 2 and barely talking, he pointed at it and said "Grampa"...it toally creeped me out since i never said that to him!

I do feel my Dad around quite often. I feel other presences too and those freak.me.out!

  • Wow!  Amazing and creepy all at the same time!  Both of my girls are named after our grandmothers, so I sometimes wonder if that's who's hanging around.  I like to think it's a familiar spirit rather than a random one, which I find creeps me out a little less.

  • that's crazy! and creepy! The other week, we had an incident where DD's angelcare monitor randomly went off. We haven't had a false alarm since we first installed them when they were born. DH jumped up and ran into their room and they were soundly sleeping. As soon as he got in their room, my bed side lamp turned on. Then the next night we were woken up by another alarm, but we had turned off DD's motion sensor pad. It was not loud either like they normally are, so I call it the ghost alarm. I swear we have a ghost that is just trying to mess with our sleep. It was the one night that we were all totally zonked out in deep sleeps!

  • Definitely believe it!

My older boys were 1.5 and 3 when my Father in Law passed away... We saw him a couple days before he passed and he told the boys that next time 'Gido' saw them he would come to their house and visit (he was in the hospital recovering from a couple massive surgeries, doing well... and passed away suddenly).

The day after he passed away I went to get the baby from his crib after nap time...and his bedroom light was on... Sort of weirded me out since I NEVER leave it on... and he couldnt get out of the crib or reach the switch...But I figured with the stress we were under maybe one of us had left it on. That night my 3 year olds light came on in the middle of the night... So I checked on him (fast asleep)... was slightly freaked out...but I just turned the light back off and went to bed. The next morning he told me he had seen 'a man walk out my window'

That was it... never happened again... So I believe Gido did come for one last visit :)

  • When my kids were younger, DS would often look at the same spot, smile, wave jabber. He is named after his great-grandpa who passed away when DH was a teenager and we both swear that it was him coming and checking on the kids, making faces.

  • Oh i have some stories too!

My DD around age 2 would seem to follow the path of someone and talked to them.  We asked her who she is talking to and she said "the blue lady"  Indifferent   She laughed and talked away to her lots of mornings for quite a while.  One time even in the car somewhere. She said she had a blue dress on and white hair.

My brother died in a car wreck 10 years ago. When he first passed we all would get signs and feel him around us all the time.  Now it is very few and far between.   One time - within a few months of his passing.  I had a co-worker who brought her 3-4 yr old daughter to work.  We were in the courtyard and she was running around like someone was chasing her and playing.  We asked her about it and she said she was playing with that boy and pointed to the air.  She asked "what is your name" and then told us his name was "Todd."  That was my brothers name!!!!!!!!!   OMG that brought me to tears I missed him so much.
