Is Maggie a popular name?

DH and I plan on trying later this year but we have talked about names for awhile and if it were to be a girl, I like Maggie. No Margot or Margaret, just Maggie. Is it a popular name now? I try to steer clear of popular names....

I think it is pretty popular...as a nn. All the other "maggie" names use it as a nn so imo it is very popular...

i know MANY maggies of all ages. 2 recenty born...1 a margaret and one a magdelena..

PP- Wow, really?! I dont know ONE Maggie! Well, actually I know a Margaret, but its my husbands grandmother and she goes by Peggy.

I personally don't think it is very popular. I only know one Maggie, and she is an older lady. In all my years of teaching I have never once had a Maggie.

I know several people in their late twenties named Maggie and also a few dogs.

I know a 1 yr old Maggie, and a 30 yr old Maggie, both Margaret. My dog that we put down last week was a Maggie too, so that name has special place in my heart.

I know one baby Maggie, but I wouldn't say it is popular. I love it-Molly too!

not around here. If you go to the SSA website you can search by state also! Im trying to get my husband to hop on the Margret/Maggie wagon (it's his grandmas name). Molly is another great great name!!!

I know someone who had a baby a few months ago and named her Margaret, but calls her Maggie. She's the only one I know of.

I've known a coupla dogs named Maggie and one human adult. She's really spunky and fun (the human, not the dogs).

I don't think I've ever met a single human Maggie, but I do know four dogs named Maggie...and a ferret.

Like PPs said, Maggie is a really popular name for dogs.  And Molly is, too!  Just like teachers can be put off by certain names, vets can be, too.    So, to me, they're too popular.  But they're both very cute & classic names.
