NICU reunion!

Tomorrow we're headed to the zoo for our NICU reunion! I'm So excited to see how all of the babies have grown up and to show off my own little guy!

I guess the controversy is in being pregnant again. Most women who deliver prematurely seriously rethink ever getting pregnant again, and judging by the reaction of a NICU parent I ran into at the ped's the other week, I'm about to get bowled over by incredulous looks and side eyes. Hopefully I won't be the only one there with a bump!

Also, I hope the food is good!

Re: NICU reunion!

  • I hope you have a good time and don't get too many judgements/bad reactions/side eyes.

I have friends with premies and never thought once about judging their decision to have more kids.  If anything, they were monitored 1000x more with their second (or more) pregnancies- so why would anyone judge?  I just don't get it.

  • People spend too much time judging other people's personal decisions.  Ugh.  I'm sorry that you may encounter some side eyes and judgment from others during an event that is supposed to be about celebrating the lives of your precious premie babies that beat the odds.  Go and enjoy yourself and try not to let them bother you.  You deserve to have a great time just like anyone else.

  • My friend had her first at 32 weeks b/c of pre-e.  She always wanted two, so they decided to try again about a year later.  She was stressed to the max the whole pregnancy, but she was monitored very closely.  She carried her 2nd until 39 weeks when they decided to induce b/c of rising BP.

  • Aw have fun! My RE has a reunion at the zoo every year as well - it's next month so we'll miss it this year but I can't wait to go next year!

This. As long as you can support another kid financially and emotionally, I don't think having a preemie automatically puts you in the "dear god, never conceive again" boat.
