IVF - Beta #1 Results - Low Positive???

I've been waiting all afternoon for the call . . . and when I get it, the results are so inconclusive!?!?!  A Low Positive . . . My dr was hesitant to even say the word "positive".

My dr said that at this point they would like to see my HCG above 100 . . .

I'm at 22.7 . . . Sad

They said that there could be a couuple of reasons for a low HCG level:

  • The embryo could have implanted late.
  • It could have impleanted, but then stopped "developing" if the embryo wasn't "normal" or had some defect.

So, I have to go back in on Monday.  This is going to be a very long weekend.

Just curious if anyone else has had a low positive?

I guess I can't celebrate yet?!?!?!?

After 3 years . . . 3 IUIs . . . and 3 IVFs . . . our miracle GIRL arrived on August 6, 2012.

EDD 10/15/16
At 20-week anatomy scan found IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction), and very low Amniotic Fluid.  Now, I'm High Risk and have weekly ultrasounds to monitor fluid and growth.  If baby runs out of room or is too growth restricted, they will deliver ASAP.  My current goal is to make it to 28 weeks!

    How many dp were you at beta?

    My first beta was 29 and I am 26 weeks pregnant now!

    My first beta at 13dpiui was only 40.8 and I've seen girls here with betas in the teens and twenties pull out with healthy pregnancies.  The initial number doesn't matter as much as that it doubles within 48-72 hours.  I hope your next beta comes back with a good doubling time!  *hugs*

    I'm sorry you're in limbo :( my first beta was 38 at 10dp5dt. Obviously it turned out ok! Sending you doubling vibes!
