So I've been on bump for about 2 years now and I've never posted. I had a m/c last year, and I'm now 29 weeks pregnant. I've been working as a private school teacher for the past 5 years with a less than optimal salary. However, I really like my school and have stayed for many reasons. During my first pregnancy my boss had seemed very open to letting me go half-time. So...when I got pregnant with this baby, I started looking for someone to job-share with me. He has since decided (and I can't blame him because it's not really what's best for kids) he doens't like the idea (btw-great guy and great boss). In the meantime, my husband found a great new job that will almost cover what the two of us were making last year. To make a long and grueling decision story short, we have decided that I will stay home at least for the next year with our child (which is what I've always wanted!!). Just a tough call because it is SO hard in our area to find a teaching job, so it would be really difficult to get back in the game if needed. We didn't have much extra money to begin with, so now things are going to be tight. I guess I'm looking for reassurance that this SAHM thing can be great and that we can make it work. Just having a freaked out day about finances. Hope everyone is having a great day. Thanks.
Re: Soon-to-be SAHM
If you have family close by that could help with childcare every once in a while maybe you could stay on as a substitute teacher at your current school.
I freaked out when we were in the planning stages too. I have anxiety issues anyway so that def didn?t help. Now that I have been home for 4 months, I realize we are fine. Sure there are days that are a little tough, but overall we are comfortable and it is so worth it to be here with LO.
I will warn you though, I have never worked harder in my life and I have had some pretty tough jobs lol.
Good Luck!
