allergies or cold? I can't tell

I thought I've just been having bad allergies for the past 3-4 days, but the allergy medicine is doing NOTHING for me. How do I tell if it's really a cold?

I would head to the doctor just to make sure.

Well, unfortunately a doctor can't do much for you either way. The only thing a doctor could maybe help is a sinus infection, if that's what you have.

I feel your pain. I never had allergies my whole life but for the past two weeks I've had intermittent spells of itchy eyes and sinuses. Its SO unpleasant. I got a neti pot and I'm about to try that. Have you ever tried one? People swear by them.

This may sound gross - but if you have a runny nose, check the color (in a tissue). If it's green or yellow, that's a sign of a sinus infection. Otherwise, I'm not sure how to tell the two apart.
