My mother passed away on May 1. I never thought I'd want to name a child after my living mom, but her tragic sudden death has made me think more about some how naming a girl after her. That is a big IF I have a girl. We don't know at this point.
Her name was Shirley Frances. I've contemplated Frances and calling her Frannie. Or Fran and calling her Frannie. Otherwise, I can't come up with anything. Our son is Wade. We chose that because we didn't like nicknames. I still feel that way.
Help?
Re: Name help
My mom passed away awhile back, but when my son was born I knew that I wanted something to be connected with her. Her name was Judy and we named our son Joseph. My brother named one of his daughters Vienna Jude to also have a connection.
So you don't necessarily have to do the official name, but a variation or initials.
My middle name is Diane, and I've also thought I would like to use that.
Diana Shirley
Shirley Diane--can't do that...too familiar.
Birthstone: March--aquamarine
She LOVED flowers. Lilies, daffodils, hostas...One of my best friends has a Lilly. I love Lily Diane for a name.
Thanks for the ideas girls. I'm still pretty sad so it is foremost in my mind.
I'm trying to think of some ideas, but the only thing I've thought of so far is to warn you against a specific combo:
Diana Frances seems like a likely combo, given the options, but Frances was Princess Diana's middle name.
Most people probably wouldn't know this, but it would be a dealbreaker for me personally. It's your choice whether it would be a dealbreaker for you.
So sorry about your mom's passing.
Here are my suggestions:
Francesca Diane
Francesca Lily (or Lillian)
Lillian Frances
Lillian Diane
I'm sorry for your loss.
I'd use Shirley as a first or middle name. So beautiful and totally underused, and I think it sounds great with Wade.
