Tennis ball massage

We learned this trick in prenatal classes last weekend as something to do during labour but it's also awesome for the aches and pains now. Take a tennis ball and have your partner roll it with his hands in circles on your back. I especially love it on the lower back. Heaven!

Re: Tennis ball massage

  • I learned this trick from my physical therapist when I had back issues in February.  You can use a wall to give yourself a massage too.  It's freakin' heaven for someone like me, who has a ton of sciatic nerve pain these days.

  • I need to try this out. BHs are killing my back lately and the only thing helping has been FI rubbing my lower back and I try to not "need" as much from him as possible. Guess I should buy some tennis balls tomorrow.

  • MH and I will be making a trip to Walmart tomorrow...so I will throw that on our list. MH doesn't give massages, so I deal with the pain. Hope it will help my sciatic pain too.

  • We learned this in our childbirth class last night too, except DH is always so aggressive when he attempts to massage me, he goes too hard and too fast and it ends up tensing me more. I told him if he does that while I am in labor, it is not going to be good.

  • It also works great when your feet start to swell. Just roll them back and forth under each foot (with a little pressure, of course).  Almost better than a spa.  lol

Ditto. My chiro recomended using the tennis ball on the wall, too, but putting it inside a sock so you can hold it easier and won't be bending over to pick it up every 2 minutes.
