Diaper bag opinions: Vera Bradley v. PPB

I'm looking at two diaper bags...Petunia Pickle Bottom and Vera Bradley.  Have any of you ladies registered for/purchased yours yet?  If so, did you look at these?  Or any current moms...what would you recommend (thoughts on these two, or things to look for when choosing a bag)?  I don't want a big, bulky, heavy bag that is more than I need...just want something very functional, lightweight, and cute.  This purchase decision is complicated by the fact that I've never had to lug around baby gear before :)  Thanks

My mom already bought me the Vera Bradley diaper bag I wanted. I wanted it for multiple reasons including the fact that they're so easily washable and well made. Plus, I just straight up like the way they look so it worked for me! I've got a friend who has a 3 year old and she still has her original Vera diaper bag. It still looks great and continues to work well for her!

  • I just bought a PPB on Friday and am in love with it.  IT is very very big(which is useful as we are CDing).  However the material makes it still a lightweight, nonbulky bag.  It has several compartments to store different types of items.  the bag i purchased also has snaps on either side that can add more room or make it a little smaller depending on the needs at the time.  It also has a zipper or a snap closure.  I liked the fun prints, which i know Vera Bradley also has.  I didn't really look at Vera bradley bags so I can't give any input on the opposite side.

  • When I was pregnant with DS (now 3 1/2), I wanted a PPB bag so bad I couldn't stand it. Well, I never got one, but one of my best friends went to the Vera sale in Chicago or something and got me a solid black Vera Bradley diaper bag. I still use the thing to this day and love it. It still looks brand new! For now we use it as an overnight bag for DS to go to grandma's and stuff, but I'll be back to filling it with diapers and bottles when this one comes. Also, DH didn't mind carrying it, but I don't think he would have minded much of anything I had picked. It was easier to just have the one bag than for him to have his own.

I Love the Vera Bradley and that's what I'm getting for all the above reasons.

  • I had trouble with my PPB. The velcro would destroy anything it came in contact with...sweaters, blankets, burp clothes. It was super grabby if that makes sense. I think I used it twice which is a bummer because it is really cute. Maybe the one with a snap closure would be better as PP mentioned. Plus, I thought it was way too small. I ended up using a bag that DH's aunt made for me and it is very similar to a Vera Bradley.

This. My twin sister has the solid black VB bag and she LOVES it... swears by it... She's gone through three kids with it too, so its well-made.

  • Vera Bradley hands down. I bought one in Twirley Birds Pink and it is adorable. SO lightweight and can be washed easily. I got the recommendation from my best friend who has a few more expensive diaper bags, but always comes back to her Vera Bradley.
  • I have used the Vera Bradley for the past 3 years and loved it. It is big when I need it and can be folded small when necessary. Plus it's light but strong.

I bought the VB in all black, too, and love it.

  • VB...used one for DS and 4 years later we're still using it!  So versatile, love all the pockets and it doesn't look like a traditional diaper bag, which I love!
