Holy Waxing Pain!

Not sure who was part of the convo on Friday where we were discussing the care of our girly bits, but I went to get my brazillian Friday after work and OMG.  I used to go every 6-8 weeks, but I haven't been since 1st tri.  I know it is supposed to be more sensitive, but I really had no idea it would  be that painful.  I was so inflamed all weekend and the part that usually hurts the least (some of you brazillian regulars probably know what I am taking about) was en fuego.  I'm still tender! But at least I'm clean.  I'll probably only go once more during this pregnancy, right at the end, because I just can't go to the hospital looking all amazonian.

I would say I am more prepared for the ring of fire people talk about after my waxing experience. Ha!

I just thought I  would wake everyone up with a little TMI this fine Monday morning.  Anyone else finding regular maintenance to be a little more difficult while pregnant?

Re: Holy Waxing Pain!

  • Ouch!  I was thinking of making an appointment soon, but keep hearing horror stories on here so maybe I'll keep DIY-ing.  That, btw, is not easy when it's getting harder and harder to see what I'm doing.  No idea what I'm going to do in a few months.

  • I went Saturday morning for the same thing.  I felt like my skin was so swollen this time and I'm wondering if taken a Tylenol would have helped.  I still stand firm that it's worth it...just hurt a little more than usual this time.

  • Before DD I used to get Brazilians regularly. When I got pregnant I definitely didn't feel like going anymore, but when it was getting close to the my EDD I decided to go for it. Doing it yourself maintenance was impossible towards the end so I went again.

I was about 38 weeks pregnant at the time I think. I did not however get the full brazilian. I got what they call the playboy bikini - which takes off most except for the most painful part of the brazilian wax - so it wasn't that bad. I felt confident in many hours of labor and didn't have to think about my down there hair ;)

Hahaha! This really made me LOL! I still need to make my appt, but thanks for the warning! I'll make sure I don't have to work the next day!

  • I haven't been waxed since becoming pg and I'm terrified!  I don't know what I'm going to do about maintenance.  With DS, I was pg during the winter and got pretty lazy.  He came early, and I wasn't "prepared" down there, which bothered me a little bit.  So I'm not sure what I'm doing this time.

  • HAHA! This post makes me laugh! I too had enough of the "Amazonian" look and opted for a wax on Friday. Ummm, word of advice DO NOT go swimming in a salt water pool!

It was soooooo HOT here yesterday so Dh and I whipped out the pool toys and headed out back. I forgot our pool was salt water and was serviced on Saturday. Let me see...raw skin on the vag bone mixed with salt DO NOT mix!

  • I've never had a bikini wax because I don't know anywhere around me that does them.  I found a spa that does them, and I was planning on getting one closer to my EDD.  Maybe I'll rethink it now.
  • It's definitely more painful than pre-pregnancy, but I've started going every 4 weeks instead of every 5, and that helps a little since the hair hasn't had a chance to grow in as much yet.  Keeping up with it is what helps the pain, IMO.  By my last count, I have 5 to go before baby gets here...the countdown is on!

  • I've never had a wax and I don't plan on having on ever. My skin is super sensitive and I'm a baby. If it is not looking all good when baby comes I say oh well. I could really care less what my doctor or nurses think at that point. lol
