I plan on cloth diapering, but am wondering what I should do when we travel. I found G Diapers and thought this could be a reasonable alternative to my normal stash so I don't have to worry about doing as much laundry on vacation; but I don't know if this is the best plan. For those who already CD, can you tell me what you do or what you think the best plan of action is for travel. I think air travel would be the most difficult because of the packing/space issue, but car travel I could probably do what I want. Do you use disposables while on vacation?
TIA!
Re: cloth diapering & Traveling?
First, let me say that Clark Joseph was a beautiful baby. I am so sorry for your losses.
We went on vacation this summer with our CDs but we drove. I loved taking them with me! We took a pack of sposies just incase but we only used a handfull of them...for the beach and such.
We did cloth while on vacation, but we took the train and rented a car.
I would recommend a good wetbag if you do decide to CD on vaca.
I typically do not CD when I travel, unless I'm going to my parents house and have free use of a machine. It's just not worth the hassle for me to find a laundromat, wait for laundry, etc while on my limited vacation time
I typically use 7th gen diapers since I use either those or Luvs at daycare, so I always have some on hand anyway.
I just went on a week long trip (from TX to NY) and used CD's the whole time. We were staying with family. If I had to use disposables I would go with Tushies. They are the only ones my DD can wear without getting a MAJOR diaper rash. They don't have any of the nasty chemicals or absorbant gel either!!
HTH!!

We just did CD on a 5 day trip. She's only 6 weeks old so I didn't want DH to get used to the idea of disposables. We were able to take a car on this trip. We stopped and used a laundromat once. It wasn't bad. If we had to fly I would probably use disposables because of the baggage situation. At thanksgiving it will be easier because my mom has a washing machine.
We had originally considered the g diapers but it didn't seem worth it to test drive a new system on vacation.
