This is my third baby and the first time I have considered  going natural.  I had an epidural the 1st time that was great and able to get some sleep since it was a long labor. Second time around the epidural only took effect on one side and because on heart decelerations on baby I wasn't allowed to push so very nervous about what way to go.  My Husband this time around is a different man from the first 2 times and he wants me to go natural this is his first child and he had a friend that had complications post epidural so totally againt it.  Any information that colud help me decide would be much appreciated I only have 10 weeks to go before baby is due and things have been complicated by a clotting disorder but DR says I can still go natural if that is my decission. She has suggested I talk with the CNM that has moved back to town & rejoined the practice.

Start mentally preparing yourself!    You've been there, done that, so you have a better idea of what to expect.       Read up and practice different pain management techniques (for me, pilates, vocalizing, breathing, and squatting helped the most last time around).

Also, you really don't have to decide right now - prepare for going med-free and not worry so much about whether or not to get an epidural now.      

What were you first labours like?  Simple?  Complicated?  Long?  Fast?  What were your contractions like?  

You have a lot to go on, because you've been through labour already.    I tend to get a ridiculously early urge to push, so I prepared for specifically that for my last labour.   Good luck!

I agree about doing a ton of reading - you just need to figure out what is right for you and your specific situation.

A good place to start is the book "Your Best Birth" and the DVD "The Business of Being Born."
