  • Play some music for the baby---that is when I feel it the most!  I put the headphones right up to my belly.  It really works for me!

  • I'm plus size AND I have an anterior placenta.  There are times I think I feel the baby, but I highly doubt it.  It sucks, I just want to feel a kick or something!  I hate it, because my DH won't be able to feel her for a long time, either.

I'm not quite as far but haven't felt ANYTHING.  People at work keep asking and I keep saying...NO.  It's not fun :(
  • ya i am a bit heavier and have an anterior placenta so that could be part of the reason why ... but I'm almost 23 weeks ... its so frustrating I really want to feel baby and to rest my worried mind a bit ...esp cause some of my friends are having unhealthy babies and probs with pregnancy I get worried

  • me either....and I'm not "heavy" either....I'm a runner and have been staying shape for my pregnancy...and my doctor said my placenta is in it's "normal" position...whatever that is.  So I have no reason NOT to feel her. Glad I'm not alone!  I know she's ok though bc I have a doppler and hear her heart often.  It'll come soon enough I guess

  • I also have an anterior placenta and it's only been this week that I've felt like I definitely feel movement...

When I first was sure I was getting some kicks and pokes, it was when I lay on my back right before bed. I would lay there for ten minutes or so and the first things I felt were some little *pops*. The type of thing that I'd think was the baby, but afterwards question it. This week I'm feeling stronger pops more often, so I know that's what they were.

People kept telling me I'd feel flutters, but I never did. I only felt once he started kicking. My doc could hear him moving around during a doppler check, but I couldn't feel him at all. DH says it's because he has "his own punching bag."

Have you talked to your OB? Maybe you can call and they can ease your mind? Or even bring you in for a hb check or u/s?

  • I didn't feel my LO move until my 20 something week mark I believe.  Everyone else on here was feeling "flutters" or baby move, and I was feeling nothing!  Sooo...every night while I was laying down, I would push around on my tummy and leave my fingers there for a few seconds....eventually (after a couple of nights) I could randomly feel a "kick" every now and then, and now this baby moves none stop every night, and I don't even have to do anything.  It's worth a shot if you haven't tried it yet.  I also did the music thing to my belly as well, but I don't know if I felt anything or not...

  • You may just have a quieter baby.  Several of my friends had an active first baby who kicked a lot and then a quieter second baby.  The lack of movement freaked them out but was totally normal.  As long as your appointments are going well and you're hearing the baby on Doppler and/or saw it on the ultrasound around 20 weeks and all was well I wouldn't worry.  You'll probably luck out and get a mellow baby!
  • thanks for the postive words and advise ... i'll try the music and poking ideas and hope something works ... but like the last poster said a mellow baby would be nice to and def take after DH
