What would you do? A little back ground. Our neighbor started fixing cars at his house. I has gotten to the point that we think they are running a whole garage out of the house. There are always random cars (anywhere from 4-8) over there with about 3-5 different men working on them. That alone is annoying. Is there laws against running a business like this out of your house? Well here is the worst part, DH came home from work yesterday and found one of them peeing on the side of the house. Today Ava and I got home around 4:30 and there was a man peeing on the side of the house again. Who do I call about this? The police, HOA or talk to my neighbors who we really don't talk to?
Re: NBR- need neighbor help
Try HOA first since then it is coming from them and not you as if it gets ugly you don't want them pooping on your house.
You have to get a license from the county to run any type of business from your house. And most residential areas will only get licensed if you are not causing traffic (people coming to your home).
I would call the city or the non-emergency police line for Acworth and ask about the legality of this. If it's against the law or the city ordinance then I would report them.
If you have a HOA I would imagine that this is against their rules, so if the police/city line is a dead-end, I'd go to the HOA next.
If both of those end in a dead-end, I'd go over and talk to the neighbor directly about them peeing on your house because that's effing disgusting. I normally would say just confront the neighbor directly but I do think that if the garage business goes away, the urination problem will too.
I would definitely go to the HOA first. Then check Municode: https://municode.com/library/ClientListing.aspx?stateID=10
and you can get an exact rundown of what your zoning allows for legally. Typically a residential zoning classification does not allow for a business to be run out of it, particularly something relating to cars like that. Depending on what that says you can go to your local police force and ask to talk to Code Enforcement.
