Progesterone Drop Update

As some of you saw that I posted yesterday- my Progesterone had increased from weeks 4-6.  The last time I had had it drawn, it was 27.4. 

I then had it drawn on Monday when I was 8 weeks and it went down to 19.  The Dr. wanted me to wait till Thursday to retest, but I asked if I could test Tuesday.  The nurse called this morning and said it was back up to 26.1.  I asked her why it fluctuated so much and she said she had no idea.  I didn't ask any more questions, but I am still a bit confused- was it a fluctuation, an error, etc?

I get it drawn again Monday as previously planned, hopefully it will stay up!

When mine dropped from 26 to 20.5 I was concerned and the RE's office said not to be. I also then asked my OB about it towards the end of first tri because I wanted to stay on progesterone longer. He said "What makes you thin it is supposed to keep going up?" I didn't have a good answer and he said that honestly it just fluctuates, even throughout the day, and as long as it is over like 15 then they don't get concerned about it. The RE said you only need a level of 10 to sustain a pregnancy but most OB's like to see it higher.

I'm glad to hear someone else has had the same experience.  Maybe because the HCG levels are supposed to go up, I just figured it was supposed to go up too.  At LEAST now down!  It really freaked me out yesterday and I woke up this morning expecting to miscarry again.  Although I suppose that is still a possibility, I am going to be happy for now.

Progesterone levels vary throughout the day. It is not constant. All of your numbers are normal for pregnancy and just demonstrate that normal variation.

So glad to read this.  I am 5.5 weeks and mine dropped from 29.7 to 24.3 in three days.  I've had four M/Cs so am pretty jittery...Sounds like things are working out for you!  Best wishes!
