Trouble TTC

Ever had a cyst? Please come in

Okay- so I know that I could call the Dr. office and ask, but I figured I would ask you all first.

It has been 21 days since my 30mm cyst was discovered, they did bloodwork- but I never asked the results- and he even said that it wouldn't really matter- just a waiting game anyway. It was not a Corpus Luteum cyst, but a cyst on the other ovary (not sure if that matters to my question).

My question is- I am going to get AF eventually right? I mean- once that cyst goes down enough, my progesterone should drop and AF should show up? Or am I going to be in this limbo forever? Would I be able to assume that if AF doesn't show up- that I still have the cyst- and if AF shows up- it is more than likely gone- and my CD3 u/s would show that? Which would mean potentially I could go on to treatment as soon as I get AF? I realize that I could just call and ask- so I am sorry if this is silly- but this waiting game is driving me INSANE!!!

TIA

  • Not silly at all.  I am currently in the cyst limbo as well.  I am a frequent host of cysts of all kinds, apparently my ovaries just like the company.  For me, cysts are typically gone by the next cd3 u/s.  AF shows up like clockwork too.  A few years ago I had a cyst the "size of a walnut" that was with me through a few cycles, but I had other crazy stuff going on with my body at that same time.

I don't get periods on my own, so I ended up taking Provera to bring it on and then a month of BCP. My cyst was 2 inches and was gone by the next cycle. Hope it's gone soon - they're such a pain!
  • I have polycystic ovaries that either will or will not go away in 2-3 months..I had/have 11 on one ovary 15 on the other. I havent had an ultrasound since March when we first discovered I actually had polycystic ovaries..my OBGYN does not seem concerned and sort of "shooed" me away from coming in each month for an ultrasound (im paying for it why not just give it to me) cysts like mine eventually go away on their own. It has been concluded I do not and never have ovualted on my own :( but, I still get a somewhat regular period (so far every 38-43 days)...so...it is possible your period could show, just later than normal..since I dont ovulate I never really play the 2WW game..its just waiting for AF to come and go yet again ::sigh:: As long as they cysts isnt causing severe pain & fever...technically you are ok..and no, just because you have your period does not mean they are gone...however--i should note that since every womans body different ( and it seems your cyst(s) are as well) its hard to compare...

I don't usually either- but since I DID ovulate- I was hoping that I would get AF. Once that didn't happen- I suspected a cyst. I guess I am questioning whether it I will get AF once it goes down, or could it go away and I still not get AF... I know that's sort of confusing.

Ha! Yeah Voodoo Tampon has been with me for quite a while now- and still nothing. So- that is interesting too- you get AF, even though you have a cyst? Do they give off hormones at all?  As I said- I don't know what my bloodwork said- but I am assuming my cyst is giving off hormones to keep AF from showing up- and perhaps when it gets small enough to not give off as much- my body will jumpstart and I'll bleed eventually. UGH- I hate this waiting game!

Yeah- my cyst is not the regular PCOS kind- although I do have those too. It is due to the Clomid- and it's much larger than the normal cysts you probably have.

Oh yeah!  She has been with you for quite some time Sad

Some of my cysts are hormone producing, sometimes not.  They did not do blood this time b/c my lining and s/e of AF were cooky, so RE thought it was producting hormones.

When I posted after I found out about this cyst, ondjima mentioned caster oil packs for cysts.  She also said to do some research on it first and posted a link -   https://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/52644695.aspx.  Maybe you need more than the vodoo tampon Hmm

I had a big cyst caused by clomid also.  I think it was even bigger than yours--they told me it was "6"--I think this must be cm?  Although that seems huge.  Anyway, when the cyst was discovered they also checked my prog. and estrogen levels.  P4 was low, like 1.5, and E2 was really high, over 600.  The cyst was producing all this estrogen which was also delaying AF.  They prescribed 7 days of oral prometrium and I got AF about 4 days after I finished it.  I had a day 3 u/s, the cyst is less than 1/3 of the size, and I was approved to go ahead with Femara this cycle

Maybe check on your bloodwork again and see if your doc will put you on progesterone to jump start AF.

I also had clomid cysts back in March.  I had two 4cm cysts- yuck!  They were producing E2 on my Cd3 u/s so I had to sit out.  On Cd21 I had horrible pain in my lower left back and I assumed it was the cyst bursting. The same thing happened on Cd22. I called the doctor since I couldn't really get out of bed. I went for an u/s on Cd23 and the cysts were gone. AF also showed up that morning.  I was able to start follistim 3 days later.  Cysts suck! Hope you move on quickly.

  • Thanks for the replies guys! I guess I just need to call- as I don't know what my b/w said.

I am hoping that this isn't the never shrinking cyst- because it has been over a month since I have taken anything- except for my Met and thyroid meds...

This is getting old- hurry up and wait- blah blah blah...

I hope you just get AF, but my last cycle I ovulated on Clomid too and still didn't get a period after 51 days (and didn't till I took the Provera).
