Pregnant after a Loss

What does a UTI feel like?

Yesterday, I was at a Babylost Mother's Day event that was outside; it was also quite warm.  When I went to pee, it kind of burned, but not like fire burn.  Then, I feel weird little tinges down there occasionally.  I really haven't felt that uncomfortable burn again, until this afternoon.  Is a UTI a constant feeling?  Should I call the doctor?  I'm so worried about every feeling!!

Re: What does a UTI feel like?

  • Were you drinking enough water? Maybe your pee was just really concentrated.

When I've had UTIs in the past, it felt like I had to pee, then I'd go to pee and almost none would come out, and it would hurt badly.

It's worth a call to your Dr. tomorrow, just in case. If it is a UTI, you don't want to chance it leading to a kidney infection. A simple urine analysis can determine whether it's an infection or not.

  • I've only had one and I (thankfully) caught it early.  What tipped me off was a strange sensation of pressure and a change in discharge.  I wasn't sure if it was bladder or vag at the time (suspected YI or BV to be honest with you).  Doc did a 2 minute pee test and found a UTI.  The relief from the meds happened quickly when I took them (not sure if the same meds can be taken when pg).

  • UTIs can range from extreeeeeme pain to honestly not a whole lot at all. Sorry, I know that dosen't help. I get all kinds of weird pain issues down there sometimes so it might not be anything but might be worth a call to the dr. in another day or so if you're still having it.

  • I was just diganosised with one, and I am peeing fine. My right kidney is swollen and infected, which landed me in the ER, along with my Gall bladder they want me to take out. But I had no symptoms of a UTI
  • The symptoms of a UTI can range widely!  I have had them be very textbook (pain, burning, pressure, frequency, urgency), and I have had them be very mild (just felt like I was going more than normal)  I agree with PP's suggesting you drink lots of water and 100% cranberry juice if you have it, and call the OB in the morning.  Hope you feel better soon!

  • I have had many unfortunately since I had a problem when I was younger. I suggest the cranberry juice like kathymarie said. It really does help. I have a lot of effects from having them when I was younger so I live off that stuff.

For symptoms it does burn when you pee (sometimes terrible), again what kathymarie said if it feels like you have to go constantly and you can't that's a symptom. Or after you finally do go you still feel no relief that's a symptom too. Hope it clears up, good luck!
