I posted this on my local MoMs board but I think it would get a broader response here.
I am thinking about where I should put all my kids! lol My daughter will be 3 when the twins arrive. I was hoping to get some advice from some veterans.
We have a ranch style house and all 4 bedrooms down one hallway. Our master bedroom is at the end of the hall/back of the house. Then we have 2 bedrooms about the same size and then 1 larger bedroom. Right now my 2.5 yr old is in that big bedroom, one room is empty and one is a guest bedroom.
We are trying to decide if we should give all 3 kids their own room. (and if so who gets the large room) or maybe we should move the 3yr old to the currently empty room by us, keep a guest room and put the twins in the big bedroom together.
I kind of think it is nice to keep the guest room in hopes of getting family to stay over and help us out as needed. But on the other hand my husband thinks we should separate the twins so they arent waking each other up.
I also think it might be nice to have all the baby stuff all in one place/room. And we can move them into separate rooms later on in life if we want to.
We do have an uncomfortable sofa bed in the finished basement (but there is no bathroom down there and no door leading to the basement - it is an open staircase.) We also have another room that was a bedroom at one point but the previous owner put in french doors and turned it into an office. So we could put curtains in those doors and put a sofa bed in there. (having a place for guests is important to me as my parents and my sister's family all live out of state and come to visit us)
What do you think? Where should I put who?

This, word for word. I don't really regret not having a guest room (there's a pullout sofa in the playroom) but I'm glad the boys' toys and stuff is NOT in their sleeping room.

At this age? No. It's as baby-proofed as a room can be, and I just make sure I don't have the tv or radio going so that I can hear them when they're back there. I check on them every 5-10 minutes or so, and of course if it gets really quiet I always head back to see what's going on. Other than that no, they pretty much have free reign of the house these days, especially their own playroom.
When they were younger, if I couldn't be in the playroom with them I'd just bring a few toys out to the living room where I could see them while I was cooking dinner, or cleaning, or whatever was going on.
