To follow -up on the threads below, you can draw up your own wills & trust for free on Suze Orman's website. (She's a well-known financial guru who does a weekly show on CNBC.)
I used this to create our documents. It's recommended that you have the finished papers reviewed by an atty, but it's not required. We had experience creating wills previously, so we skipped the atty part. I just printed out our final versions & had them notarized (for free) at our bank.

I vaguely recall reading that they are good for estates up to one million dollars. You can check the site for more details. There is audio commentary on every page that explains the forms & addresses most any questions you might have.
