armpit rash

I just noticed that my 4 week old girl has a red rash under one armpit. It also had some white discharge.  I guess I need to be better about wiping under there daily on nonbath days. I feel awful!

Any suggestions for getting rid of it? Would diaper rash cream work? Would antibodies from breastmilk work to rub on it? Have you seen a similar rash before?

for a baby that young i would call the pedi, especially since the rash has a discharge...that doesnt sound normal.

Because of the discharge, call your pedi's on-call number or nurse line.  Try not to worry, but do call.  For a plain red rash in the armpit (or cracks at the back of the legs or under chin), we used a bit of aquaphor.
