Anyone used a bath seat?

I really, really want to bathe the boys together, but Ben can't sit up steadily in the bath yet. It's too slippery and for some reason those tub mats won't stick to the floor of our tub. Plus, I expect James may try to push him over to grab toys from him.

I was thinking about trying a bath seat for Ben. Has anyone used one that they liked?

Re: Anyone used a bath seat?

  • I used one and we loved it. I got it as a handme-down but let me see if I can find a link to it.

Found it! Ours was white but by this maker. DS liked it and it held up through 3 kids so far.

  • We tried one but it did not stick just like our bath mats. If you have any texture to the bottom of your tub then it might not stick. That was our problem

  • I know this is not the intended use (and have been "yelled" at on here before for mentioning this) but we used the Bumbo in the tub. It is so much easier for me to bathe the boys together and we started doing that when Nolan was about 4 months. It isnt like I ever left him unattended, I was always right there and didnt worry about his safety. You have to keep the water low though, if it is too high the seat starts to float.

Another "bad" mom here! I also used the Bumbo for DS2 before he could sit up consistently in the tub ;)

I tried one of those bath rings (like the first one posted....) and he just slid right out of it. The thing with the bath rings is that they still have to be pretty stable because there is so much open space in those seats that they just slide around!

  • This is probably pretty ridiculous but I still use the bath seats (the ones that connect to the side -I think safety 1st? ). They boys are 2.  I use them because they never really tried to climb out and it makes my life easier when trying to give them a bath by myself. They will still probably be in them in kindergarten!!!

  • Thanks, everyone. Unfortunately I gave our Bumbo away to our neighbors who have a 2 month old, or I'd be tempted to try it. I will try one of the bath seats mentioned. I'm not too worried about it actually sticking to the bottom of the tub since I will be there the whole time. It's more about keeping him at least somewhat contained. Thanks!

  • Yup- Jake will be two in July and we still use his (but, shhh...don't tell him he's definitely old enough to not need one!)  Our tub is super slippery and he'd definitely get hurt in it. You can get ours at buy buy baby :)

  • We had a bath ring for DS until just a few weeks ago. It was great.

ETA: It didn't stick to our tub but since I was right there it didn't matter. It kept him contained enough to bath him and for him to play.
