When I introduced myself, I asked about keeping my RE appointment or going to my OB. The RE told me to stay with my OB since they had not seen me before. I went Monday afternoon for my blood work. I called today to see what my betas were and the nurse told me that she did not take my betas since I wasn't having any problems! I think I have problems...I have had a loss and been trying for almost 2 years!
Anyways, did anyone else not have betas taken with the first b/w?

I asked for them also, usually they just do the yes or no pg. blood test. If I didn't ask they wouldn't have done them.
Congrats on your bfp!
Congrats on your BFP!
After my loss, my OB developed a "plan" for "next time" (optimist that she is) that included serial betas and an early u/s. So I knew what to expect as soon as I got my BFP. But as PPs said, that seems to be more the exception than the rule. Perhaps you could call and request them?

Motherhood is not for wimps
I got a single beta to confirm, since I had a super long cycle and my internist was skeptical. After that I opted not to push for a second. It would have been nice to see doubling, but so many people don't get perfect doubling and have healthy babies.
The betas are helpful for reassurance if they look good, but they are not anything that would change how your doc treats the pregnancy- esp. if you're not bleeding or having pain. Ask for them if you want them, your doc is probably happy to do them if you ask. Hope things work out! Congrats again.

My doctor didn't do betas....for the first appointment she only had me PIAC! I was a little baffled, but then she gelped me get into to see and OB at around 7 weeks instead of their usual 10, so I was happy with that.
I know it can be stressful not to get betas, but there are also a lot of women here who didn't have them done...some of the doctors say that all it does is cause worry.
It sounds like you could always call back and ask to have them done, but hang in there if the doctor declines.

All of this for me as well - my "plan" included beta draws and an early u/s, so I was expecting it this time around. Although at my old practice, they were not willing to do that for me.
