Pregnant after a Loss

1st trimester exercise and beyond

I got the ok from my Dr to continue doing zumba as long as my HR stays under 140 so I'm online looking for a HR monitor. I enjoy my class so much and I know at some point I will have to stop. (My class is only semi intense - there are 60+ yr old women so the instructors try not to kill people)

So I was wondering what you ladies are doing for exercise? If you're beyond your first trimester are you still exercising? What are you doing?

  • I'm currently on strict orders to do nothing but walk (along with no lifting, pelvic rest, etc... blah). If I get cleared on the 10th I'll go back to biking, light lifting, etc.

  • I am on pelvic rest and no exercise orders for another wk or so. Once cleared it is back to cardio and lifting. I aim to workout in the gym 3 days a week for a little over an hour. Add weekend doing housework and I am all set!

I am tempted to get my Bumbleride Indie now for longer walks/trails with DS.

  • I did a lot of kick boxing (nothing too extremely and no jumping) initially because i had a lot of tension in my body and that was the only thing that helped.  Now I walk with my dog.  I take very long walks everyday.  Now that the weather is nicer, sometimes I walk him 2 times in evening.  I feel great with all this exercise.  Listen to your doctor and you should be ok.

  • my doctor told me just to avoid exercise with sudden movements/changes in directions.  My DH and I had signed up for swing dance lessons before I found out I was pregnant and she recommended not to do it and of course no jumping.  I think I'm going to sign up for a yoga class nearby instead and then just taking lots of walks as the weather starts getting nicer.

  • My nurse said to keep the heart rate under 140.  The next time I went to the gym I wore a HRM and was walking on the treadmill doing my warm up.  I wasn't even past the warm up stage and my heart rate was about 140.  So, the next time I went to the doc I asked my OB about it and she said that if I had been active before getting pg it was okay to go above 140, but to pay attention to my body... make sure I didn't overheat while exercising or that I wasn't pushing myself too hard.  She said light jogging and whatnot was fine.
